A Shave in History - 1938 Gillette Senator / Proraso Red / Semogue / Tabac

For today's Vintage Shave, I chose a razor from my display that we get a lot of questions on. The Gillette Senator was a nickel plated, open comb, thin handle Twist To Open razor debuting in 1938. Its brothers, the gold plated Sheraton and bulldog handled Aristocrat comprised the first butterfly door models from Gillette.

Finding a good condition Senator is hard enough - finding the packaging is next to impossible. They deliver amazing shaves and when people try them, rarely do they look elsewhere for the open comb experience!

Paired with an amazing quality Semogue boar brush and Proraso Sandalwood soap, I got a smooth and comfortable shave! Finished with a splash of the German classic Tabac for that authentic throw-back expereience!
