    Edwin Jagger DE89BA

Background: Age 56/cartridge shaver from the start, 2 blades up to 5 blades. I did get a close shave from my cartridge razors but the three things that made me try a switch. 1. I could only shave twice a week without skin irritation. If I shave 3 or more times my skin gets tore up and I do need to shave multiple times per week some months out of the year. 2. The price of razor blades just keep rising. 3. Cartridge quality is not consistent at all. Some lasted twice as long as others. This led to more unexpected skin irritation. I was really getting sick of shaving and wanted to try a new system, so I started looking at “entry level” DE razors. The Edwin Jagger DE89BA was recommended. I purchased it with a Gillette blade aggressive level of 3.5/5. My 1st shave was amazing. It’s a totally different feeling. I did get a small nick on the 1st shave, but it was because I was shaving like I was using cartridges, too much pressure. After that, no more nicks. Sites will state that there is a learning curve, but it’s a pretty easy curve. I’m new to DE, but I’ve been shaving my whole life so it’s an easy hurdle. I put the DE89BA to the test shaving 4 day growth one week then shaving every other day the next week. I used different blades at 3.5/5 aggressive level. It passed A+. PROs: It’s smooth and easy to use, good looking razor, skin feels much better, easy to clean. CONs: I can’t really think of any. I was so excited about my new shaving routine that I purchased the Edwin Jagger 3ONE6 Stainless Steel. I’ll post a review for this razor after a few more shaves, but so far it’s looking excellent. I’ll keep the DE89BA in the rotation, possible with a different blade than the 3ONE6.

    Jagger Double Edge Razor

An excellent piece of hardware! I used a double edge razor as a young man, and then got caught up in the disposable razor trap. Now I am back on board with getting a proper shave! This Jagger razor has nice heft, which makes for a perfect shave.

    Wonderful razor and experience

What a well built and great looking razor! The chrome finish and design looks great. Good hold and weight makes the shave smooth. Even though this does not have butterfly blade type of blade replacement mechanism, it’s still easy to replace blade as long as you are careful. Cleaning is quick and easy. I have sensitive skin where body reacts to slightest cuts. The sensitive pack of blades are great. I am still learning to avoid cuts below chin but I am almost there! I stopped using Mach-3 years ago due to the sensitive skin and had moved to electric/battery shavers. While they worked well, close shave was not an option. This razor and DE blades now let me have that :) Now I know why my grandpa did not give up on DE razors :-D This Edwin Jagger razor is highly recommended. Thanks to videos here that made me switch.
