Figured for $10, and a lot of love from others, it was worth a try. What a pleasant surprise. Great slickness and very good cushion. Easy to lather and by adding a little water as the shave progress it stayed slick and protective.
It looks like this tub will last a long time. And the scent was one of the most interesting takes on sandlewood that I've come across, has just the right amount of menthol, and lasts to the end of the shave.
Received my Proraso Sandalwood a couple of days ago - and it was delayed because I screwed up the address. Apologies.
That said, I'm enjoying this soap; like others have said, it's a very mild but pleasant earthy scent . And it's really slick with a smooth, full lather - but, to me, it seems you need to use a lot more water when lathering than other Proraso soaps. First time I used it, it started drying out and flaking on my face as I shaved. Since then, I use a lot more water and am really happy with the results.
It's been nearly two weeks and my order hasn't arrived yet.
Proraso, now in Sandalwood - wow! It's kind of like when you leave an old girlfriend but in the years you've been apart, she's become way more hot and sexy. I have 40+ soaps and creams but I decided to re-try the brand I started out with years ago. Sure it doesn't have the slickness of an artisan French milled soap but it doesn't cost $80 either. A great scent and a great shave! For when you feel like shaving like a man - not a French mime.
This is my daily "Go to" for the best shave. This soap is unlike the traditional hard pucks that take 10 minutes to lather. It's a bit softer and silkier so it whips up quickly into a full head of luscious cream. The scent is outstanding and manly and the end result is a smooth face with soft conditioning traits. highly recommend
Expect the same consistency of cream along with the subtle touch of menthol found in its green brother. Only this time, imagine a faint whisp of sandalwood couched in a calm blanket of shea. It's a nice respite from the aggressive aftershave i love to follow it with!
