I'm allergic to linalool. I bought this after trying to read up on it and confirming that there's no lavender (linalool) in it. I was happy after I received it and didn't react to a sniff test. I lathered up and tried it, feeling some tingling during the shave and assuming it was something else. Great shave overall with creamy lather and good results. When my neck started breaking out in hives I checked the ingredients on the package and found linalool was listed. That's on me for assuming since it isn't listed anywhere online that it would match on the tub. Would be a 5 star soap if the ingredients listed were accurate.

I have been using this soap almost daily for two weeks. This is a hard thirsty soap. I have found that a boar brush works best for loading. It can easily be thick on your face if you don’t have enough water but it is smooth when it comes to shaving. The sent is nice as well. Not too strong but you know it’s there.

Back with another review. Was very curious about Sweet Gale. Grading on a 1-10 scale when numerical. Lather: 8.5-8.75 It lathered readily and well for a soap after loading the Silvertip badger brush following a hot soak. Aroma: 8.25. Personal preference always factors in. The vetiver, spices are in full effect. Very pleasant, although I wouldn’t quite call it manly with its sweet overtones. I felt the sweetness almost fought the spices, but not enough to push this into a poor rating. Nobody’s going to pick a fight with you because of it. Enjoyable. Didn’t pick up on the scent notes as well as the day progressed, as with Scottish Heather or other top performers in this criterion, albeit a subtle indicator. Shave: A. You’re going to get a quality shave with very good aesthetics. That’s my verdict.
