More Information

Mitchell's Wool Fat Soap was first produced in the early 1930s by Bradford chemist Fred Mitchell who realised that the natural lanolin content of wool fat, which kept the hands of local sheep shearers and wool sorters so exceptionally soft, could also be beneficial to delicate complexions and sensitive skins.

A simple and natural product, Mitchell's Wool Fat Soap is still made to Mr. Mitchell's original formula, based on a recipe from the turn of the century and incorporating lanolin from the wool fat as the key ingredient.

These are very gentle products particularly soothing to sensitive skins, often been recommended by members of the medical profession to help alleviate certain skin complaints.

From its early loyal following of mainly local customers, the reputation of Mitchell's Wool Fat Soap has grown and it is now in great demand not only in the British Isles but in Europe, Australia, Japan and the USA.

Mitchell's Wool Fat Shaving Soap in Ceramic Dish

Update to my previous review. I'm one of those guys that doesn't like to give up, and given how long Mitchell's Wool Fat has been around (and loved by) the wet shaving community, I couldn't help but think I was doing something wrong while using it. So after a fair amount searching forums, experimenting and pondering, I am happy to report that this is a much better soap than I had thought or the first month or two I had been using it. If you really soak it for a while (some forum advice suggests soaking it complete submerged in your sink) and keep your brush much wetter than usualy, you can get a very useful lather that is also great for Straigt Razor shaving. While not my favorite for double edged safety razor shaving, it is right up there with any other the other soaps/creams I have tried while SR shaving. 4 stars because I do not like it as well when using DE razors. Mitchell's Wool Fat Shaving Soap In Ceramic Dish

I concur with the previous post by Tom. First, however, the ceramic dish is great and I see a long life a head for it as a shaving bowl! The soap is disappointing though. It does make your skin slick but not as slick as many other top flight soaps and creams such as TOBS, Proraso, Tabac, Cella, and Razor Emporium's to name a few. The lather disappears rather quickly and makes one wonder if they are using cremo by mistake. I tried adding extra water, more water, even more water and less and less water. All to no avail. It is useable and you can get a very fine shave with it, even a BBS with the right for you razor and blade (or straight razor). For me, I enjoy many other soaps and creams far more than this one, and will not be ordering this one again. As always though, your mileage may vary.

    Mitchell' s Woolfat Shaving Soap

Mitchell's Woolfat reminds me of the same smell as Old Spice which I really enjoy very much.
