I don’t hate it...
Being a long-time fan of Omega brushes, I’ve thought about trying their shave cream in the past. Knowing it’s made for Omega by the Martelli family at Proraso (I’ve been using Proraso Green and Bigelow’s version for years), how bad could it be? While looking at replacement options from RE for an old favorite (Omega of course) brush, I noticed they stocked the cream and decided to finally give it a try.
I’ve used it every other day now for about two weeks, using Proraso or Bigelow on the days in between, so same blade, razor, brush, etc., for comparison. Aside from the lack of menthol, the primary difference seems to be consistency of the cream - it’s more like a thick shampoo than cream. Also, it seems to produce more foam when lathered than Proraso. And, it’s SLICK, maybe too slick? I’ve concluded that I missed the menthol in Proraso Green and that I slightly prefer its’ lather. I’ll finish the tube of Omega, as it does provide a close comfortable shave, but I’ll stick with Proraso and/or Bigelow in the future. As for RE, nice selection, good value and super fast shipping - I may have found a new favorite supplier for my shaving supplies.
