OK, I'm a noon. When I first got this, it was labeled as shaving soap. I have all the other scents in this series, so am familiar. When I opened the container, I was like "hmmm, this looks different." Very goopy. I tried to use it as a soap and it didn't go too well. A few days later, my two synapses fired, and I thought "oh, is this a CREAM?" (again, I'm not smart). So I tried it in a bowl and lathered as a cream and the outcome was far superior. It was thick and rich and amazing. Maybe I got a weird batch. The smell is amazing; to that end, my wife likes it. She's like the entire 19xx series with the '55 and '44 being her favorites. It's forward with bright citrus (I did not expect to like) but I smell a hint of tobacco that lingers (I am not sure it's in the ingredients but it reminds me of it). I love it. It's very nostalgic and classy. I can't recommend it highly enough. I have loved the whole series. I'm not sure how Matt designed them to mimick the era, or if they even do lol, but that's besides the point. They are phenomenal. People can rave about Ariana and Evans and others, but these are may favorites....aside from a few Italian ones (I'm Italian by ancestry, after all lol). Great job! Keep them coming! One of the best Bayrum scents. Very fresh smelling,a pleasure to use.

This is the best of the products in this series in all areas, fragrance, performance, lather, etc. Will use this as my usually go to!

In regard to the scent, 1944 is not your typical bay rum. It's an elegant blending of scents that capture the essence of an era gone by. The citrus notes are complementary to the dark rum accord. Vanilla bean provides a smooth scent that allows all of the scents to happily commingle with one another. I’ve received quite a few complements when wearing this at the office. This is a bay rum that doesn’t allow the bay rum characteristics to overshadow the other scents. 1944 has definitely earned a position as a top tier bay rum in my collection. I felt like I wanted a long time for `944 to see the light of day, and all I can say is it was definitely worth the wait. When it comes to performance, the Razor Emporium soaps are beyond amazing. At times, I feel, all I have to do is look at the tub of soap and it explodes in fluffy, slick and silky lather. This soap is magic.
