Description

The Rex Supply Co. Sovereign Steel Straight Edge Razor

Rex Supply Co. introduces “The Sovereign,” the artisan addition to their growing line of premium razors shaving accessories. This a modern, straight edge razor designed by the company’s widely acclaimed wet shaving enthusiasts. The Sovereign features quality materials in an homage to razors of a traditional German design. The results produce an exceptional shaving experience for veteran straight razor users or those looking to enter the fold.

Rex Supply Co. razors have a reputation for superior quality and artisan craftsmanship that the Sovereign puts on full display. The 3” long, 7/8” width blade is formed of 01 carbon steel that maintains a sharp, lasting edge and a finely tuned balance that instantly translates into fine user control. The blade is a full hollow ground for maximum sharpness, comfort and performance, making it easy to guide through even the thickest hairs without tugging, pulling or chafing.

The Sovereign is designed with a “barber’s notch” point to promote simple blade access. The spine is adorned with hand filed indentations that work with fine tooth jumps on the underside to provide excellent grip, even when wet. Every razor features a mark on the tang that identifies the company’s blade smith, who grinds each edge by hand in the company’s Phoenix, Arizona workshop.

When not in use, the blade folds neatly into its protective scales. Those preferring a traditional appearance will appreciate the handmade, genuine rosewood scales. Also features a faux ivory recon-stone wedge to maintain proper spacing for the blade.

The Sovereign is 100% “Made in the USA” and designed for a lifetime of use. This product also comes with a lifetime warranty.

    Replaced a Ralf Aust

I originally ally ordered a Ralf Aust 7/8 Spanish tip. It was nice, but for thr money I felt the grind on the heel wasn't to my liking. Matt and DJ were very patient with me. Mailed it back and got a refund, and ordered the Sovereign 7/8 Rosewood. Received today and it is much nicer than the Ralf. Especially with the grind and bevel. It may not be polished and shiny, but I like the hand cut grooves and stone wash look better. And the edge. Well the edge is much nicer imo. I like fact there is a wedge too. To keep blade from grabbing the Rosewood scales. The Ralf would touch the left horn scale unless I moved it on center. Moral of my story is I should have just gone with my gut the first go around. After all, the Ambassador is hella nice, so the trend for byild quality extends to the Sovereign. I'm very pleased with it. Haven't used it but courage will prevail. Lol. Not sure what the other guys' issue is. But I have had nothing but good experiences with Rex and the crew. I'm out.

    Defective and not sharpned

BeforeBefore buying it I asked several times if it was really sharp both to the retailer and to the parent company who replied in the affirmative. Instead it arrived completely unsharpened! as well as defective !!! (Blade very! Curved at the tip and slightly curved at the heel! Although certainly not a smile razor! And blade that does not come down aligned in the center of the handle hole) Although I complained I was told to send it back or I would have money back! I was not given the company identification number and was unable to send it. Only after having insisted on writing dozens of times was it given to me! But I was insulted by saying that if it wasn't okay now I could throw it in the trash! At this point I couldn't trust anymore. Furthermore, I also risked paying the Italian VAT as well as paying customs taxes for sure. The manufacturing company did not give me assistance but merely told me to take it to one of their dealers. To which I asked for assistance to be able to sharpen it as I risked paying the Italian VAT as well. The firm Rex Supply never made itself heard! A real joke! Stay away if you don't want to be treated with such indifference and brutality! They could have emailed me with whoever built the razor but nothing I didn't have a single word of assistance! Really bad!
