    Gillette fat handled Tech

I've wanted a Tech for some time but not the more common ball end handle type. The first Techs I looked at were gold or Rhodium revamps and I really wanted nickel. Ordered this as soon as it appeared and haven't been disappointed. The mild but efficient reputation is well deserved. Two passes with a good sharp blade achieves a more than acceptable result for everyday shaving. This has quickly gained a place as one of the three razors I use on a daily basis. Buying revamped razors from Razor Emporium saves the lottery of buying from other sources and even with the delivery costs to the UK is still reasonable. They are always the first place I look and they've not let me down.

This is the best razor in my collection hands down. I had been looking for a premium razor but I wasn't ready to pay a premium price I just think it's unnecessary. These guys proved me right. Their razors are just as good if not better than some of the other razors that I can name that are 100 to $250. Here's my review of this most excellent product! Thttps://youtu.be/lJdTx_qN5qg

1947-51 Gillette Fat Handle Tech DE Razor Factory Nickel

This revamped razor looks great, is light, gives close, smooth shaves, and is not particularly aggressive with the blades I have used, so far. I now understand why many modern, 3-piece razors are based on this design. However, I still prefer twist-to-open, adjustable, butterfly-style razors such as the Slim Adjustable and Rockwell T2, to 3-piece non-adjustable razors, for the ease of changing or removing blades, as well as adjustability between blades and during a shave. I wanted to buy a Gillette Tech for my collection, as well as for shaving. I was unable to find Gillette razors at local antiques stores or flea markets except for a 1920’s ball-end, old type, open comb that shaved well, but I thought needed refinishing. I stopped wasting time looking at such places and bought the revamped Tech from Razor Emporium (RE) because I was happy with the revamped Slim Adjustable I purchased previously. I chose the revamped razor because it cost only $5 more than a Tech in its original finish. This razor has a “satin nickel” finish, which according to one of Matt’s recent videos, RE no longer applies. This finish seems slightly shinier than RE’s “factory nickel” finish, but I do not see much difference.
