Vintage Shave of the Day - 1917 Gillette Military Set / WSP Tobacco / Black Badger Brush

Many people enjoy owning razor sets that came from the various war years of production. The Khaki set and black handle tech are two of the most popular. However the crown jewel for many collectors is the Military Combination set, also known as the Officer set.

Since enlisted men were issued Khaki sets, some chose to upgrade and pay out of pocket for the Military set back in the first World War. And at a price of $8, it was quite the investment in it's day. However it came with a brush, soap stick, two blade banks full of 20 blades, mirror, olive drab covered case and of course a silver plated bulldog handle Old Type razor.

These are truly special sets and I'm honored to have one in my collection. Paired with the WSP Tobacco soap and black badger brush, a smooth shave wasn't hard to find.
