Straight out of the box this razor was not sharp at all. It did not pass a standing hair test and it wouldn't even take arm hair off, significantly worse than some of my kitchen knives. Other than that the razors' handles are thin and flimsy, not nearly worth the price tag. In it's current condition I am going to have to put a new edge on it which will take investment into equipment as well as a decent amount of time. $50 for a flimsy razor than needs a new edge is ridiculous. Not to mention, a Gold Dollar 208 that is NOT shave ready can be bought for around $15. This one is supposed to be shave ready which means a difference of $35 to get it sharp. Besides the point that putting time and money into such a low quality razor to begin with is a bad idea; this razor did not come shave ready. You would be much better off investing extra money into a quality razor to begin with, and then pay to have it sharpened by a business that knows how to sharpen a straight razor.

Hi, I bought this for my son for xmas and was hoping it would be ready to go, out of the box. Although the product feels good in the hand is beautiful, the actual blade was not sharp enough to cut hair. Since I enjoy keeping my kitchen knives sharp, I do have a a couple wet stones that I will use to work on it and get it razor sharp! As a comparison, my son got a camping knife that was much sharper and easily cut arm hair out of the box. Thank you!

I’m no expert and to be fair this is my first straight razor but it feels a little on the low quality spectrum . I know there are better quality and more expensive straight razors but for the prize I was expecting better handle material and better sharpened blade.

Like other reviewers have mentioned - save your $ and spend a bit more for proper straight razor. Steel on this product is not the best and the most important part - the shaving edge - suffers as a result. Your skin will thank you.
