This did not come shave ready as advertised. When I shaved with it, it dragged and pulled and was very uncomfortable. Halfway through it stopped cutting hair altogether. The blade is curved slightly which is making it hard to sharpen.

And it’s not supposed to be! Perfect for learning with, and after a couple weeks, I bought myself a Ralf Aust masterpiece and high end strop. I would absolutely say go ahead and get yourself one if you’re interested in trying to learn straight razor shaving. That and the beginner strop of course. Yes it came “shave ready” I’m the one who most likely dulled it due to poor technique whilst stropping. Hahahahahah I literally hear the mailman right now and that means the arrival of all my new kit!!!!!!! Keep rocking Razor Emporium!!!!!

Got this razor because I wanted to get proficient with honing before I tried it on my Dovo Best Quality razors. First time I tried to shave with it, the blade was pulling on the hairs and barely removing anything. Guess I’ll be attempting to hone this one long before I anticipated.

After several months of shaving with dovo and boker razors tonight I shaved with the gold dollar and it shaved just as will as my my dovo and boker blades , I have had all year to hone these things though , as I have bought stones to hone them , I think a Dollar razor can do just as good as any other straight razor as long as it is taken care of properly
