Double-edge safety razors are the modern gentleman's preferred way to shave. The personal adjustability of the Rockwell 6C allows you to adjust the razor to perfectly suit your skin, facial hair, and shaving soap - ensuring a close, smooth, and comfortable shave every time. Plated in white chrome, the Rockwell 6C not only looks elegant, but is hefty enough to ensure easy maneuvering and durable enough to survive a drop on the floor.
The Rockwell 6C includes the following components:
- Handle with knurled grip
- 3 reversible base plates providing sizes 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6
- Plate A: Sizes 1 and 3, Plate B: Sizes 2 and 4, Plate C: Sizes 5 and 6
- Blade cap
- 5 double-edge razor blades
Each base plate has a different blade gap on each side. Just flip the plate over to get a brand new shave.
Why Use an Adjustable Safety Razor Like the Rockwell 6C?
You have unique skin and facial hair, and your razor should reflect that. Cartridge razors and standard safety razors pretend that one size fits all when shaving, which leads to irritation and cuts. The adjustability of the Rockwell 6S allows you to find a smooth, comfortable, and close shave every day, no matter what the condition of your skin or the length and thickness of your facial hair.
The Rockwell 6C provides six levels of adjustability, to ensure any and every man can redefine the closeness, smoothness, and comfort of their shave. These six levels refer to the space between the blade and the razor. Lower levels are great for men with finer facial hair. Higher levels are best for men with coarser facial hair.
Why Shave with a Classic Safety Razor?
The single blade of a classic safety razor means that you can shave with the grain of your facial hair - irritation-free - and get a smooth shave much better and easier than cartridges can. Most men find shaving with a Rockwell 6S to be a calming experience, and the process of classic shaving to be more relaxing and ritualistic than shaving with cartridge razor. Double-edge razor blades are a fraction of the cost of cartridge razors.
This razor is by far the best I have used. It gave such a terrific shave, having the different size plates helps you find the right aggressiveness. I tried plates 1-3 which were mild and I know they will come in handy for when I shave often or just have irritation. I settled on the fourth and it was just right. If you want to have an adjustable razor but do not want to give up the classic 3 piece design, this is the razor for you. I now know what it feels like to have a close shave but no irritation.
Also, the finish on the razor I received was superb, very visually pleasing. No blemishes or defects in the finish, and the weight is very satisfying.
I've used cartridge razors for over 40 years, (70 years young now), and after watching Matt's review on the Rockwell 6-C razor, i decided to give it a try. I had previously tried the Dorco introductory double edge razor, but it seemed a little weak. Matt responded to a comment/question that I submitted and suggested trying an adjustable razor with more aggressive blades. I went ahead and ordered the 6-C adjustable system and a package of blades for sensitive skin from Razor Emporium.
Matt, I'm sold, you were absolutely correct in your assessment of my question. I've gone through all 6 options on the razor and settled in on number 6 on the first pass and 5 on the second pass. Only two passes are now necessary, not 3-4. I did find that the cartridge razor is still good for one thing. Shaving just inside my nostrils :) I'm also using Geo. F. Trumper sandalwood shave cream and am loving it. I'm going to be trying the Porasco red label pre-shave next.
Thanks again for your advice and product line.
A faithful customer.
