I sent in an old Rubberset 400-3 aluminum handle. It was already in okay condition, free from gouges or major scratches, but the horse hair was dead and the metal was dull and worn. The folks at Razor Emporium polished and buffed the metal to a high shine, restoring its former glory, and installed a new silver tip knot. It is now one of my absolutely favorite brushes. Truly stunning. Thank you, Razor Emporium!
Very pleased with the job done to revamp my dad’s old boar brush. The handle was scratched quite a bit and hair was in bad shape. Now the brush is very useable and the handle looks almost new. It will work nicely in my rotation. I’m sue that Dad will be impressed as well.
I have been sending razors, brushes to RE for the last 4 years and I have to say their restoration and re-plating service, their brush repair service and customer care has continually gotten better.
I had a razor Blackbird that I wanted to modify, after a few email and phone communications the work was started. I received the razor back one week later. The modification was perfect I could not be any happier.
Currently I just sent in a vintage brush for a little restoration, they cleaned it up in-which I received it back in 12 days from sending it to them and receiving it back. Again I could not be ant happier.
Very happy with the new brush!
I 'm quite pleased with the replacement of the deteriorated knot on the brass-handled shaving brush, but wish that the Emporium had replied to my requests for information. I included my phone number with my questions, but didn't hear anything back. Here are three of the concerns:
"I'll need some information about badger knots so that I can make an appropriate selection..." No reply.
"If you can add any information or.. correct my assumptions (about the origin of the brass handled brush)..." No reply.
"I trust that a badger knot will outlast the 4 or 5 boar bristle brushes I've bought over the years at CVS." No reply. I hope that's right, because I paid a lot more than I ever had before.
I would have welcomed even an "We don't know." So sending the handle to the Emporium was a act of faith.
My brush return after revamp service better than new, highly recommended.
I purchased the brush revamp service for $58 NOT INCLUDING THE KNOTS. Now, I didn't mind paying the extra money for the knots. However my issue is the replacement knots I received in my brushes, we're not the same ones depicted in the pictures by whomever razor emporium sources them from. I have considered sending them back for a replacement, but at this point it's too much of a hassle and don't feel like incurring additional shipping costs.
The restoration of my father’s shaving brush from the 1950’s is breathtaking. Besides the careful attention to detail such as lettering with gold the faded makers name. The impressive new knot is superb. It was carefully matched with the original knot. The new knot is very dense, silky soft tips, and feels fantastic on the face. It is a shame I am giving this brush to my son! I strongly recommend the Brush Revamp Service.
In my teens they sold hot lather in cans but it was too expensive for this minimum wage worker to afford. I complained to a co worker about the price and she bought me an aluminum handled, boars hair shaving brush as a joke saying "turn on the hot water, lather up; make it as hot as you like".
Fast forward forty years and my brush began to lose hair, its handle dented from use and I was forced to find a new one. I bought an Omega Badger hair brush, it is OK but doesn't have the same handle. I put the old brush in a drawer for sentimental reasons.
I started collecting old, double edge razors and wanted them refurbished. After a Google search, I found Razor Emporium; but I also found they could restore my brush. It looks great and shiny new with its boar hair knot. Makes me want to look for old brushes now to bring back to life.
